Why is Paint Protection Necessary?
Due to environmental demands, car manufactures now have to use water based paints. These while being environmentally safe, are prone to fading and oxidation.
Automotive ceramic coatings or nano-ceramic coatings are a newer technology in car paint protection. A ceramic coating contains SI02 (silicon dioxide) and is made of ceramic nano particles. This coating creates a semi-permanent bond to your vehicles paint, meaning that it does not wash away or break down.
Once the coating is cured it will display insane water repellency, increased gloss levels, a greater resistance to abrasion and chemicals, and additional UV blockers to prevent fading and oxidation.
In an abrasion test pencils of different hardness (1 being the softest and 9 being the hardest) are used to grade how susceptible a surface is to scratching. They use these pencils to scratch the service to measure how resistant it is to damage.
Most automotive clear coats have a hardness of 4-6 on the scale, ceramic coatings have improved hardness up to 10h resulting in unparalleled protection.
